Our Diagnostic Services

At Carolina Veterinary Specialists in Greensboro, we are pleased to offer advanced diagnostics which include digital radiography, ultrasound and CT scans.

These tools create images that allow our specialists and veterinarians to provide a precise diagnosis of your pet's medical condition.

  • Radiography (Digital X-Rays)

A radiograph, also known as a digital x-ray, is a type of photograph that captures an image of the inside of your pet's body, and reveals information we may not be able to see from the outside.

Radiography is a safe, non-invasive, and completely painless procedure that uses very low doses of radiation to assess bones and organs. Veterinarians then use that information to diagnose conditions including chronic arthritis, bladder stones, fractured bones, spinal chord diseases, and some tumors.

The amount of radiation is low enough that even pregnant females and very young pets are able to tolerate a radiograph.

  • Ultrasound

In ultrasound imaging, we expose part of the body to high-frequency sound waves to generate images of the inside of your pet's body.

Because ultrasound images are captured in real-time, they reveal the movement and structure of the body's internal organs, and the blood as it flows through blood vessels.

  • CT Scan (Computed Tomography)

A CT scanner is an advanced, non-invasive diagnostic machine that helps our specialists see your pet's internal anatomy. It produces highly detailed cross-sectional images.

CT scans are often used for planning surgery, diagnosing diseases, and detecting and treating cancer in its early stages.

  • Endoscopy

An endoscope is comprised of a miniature camera and light attached to the end of a flexible tube.

During an endoscopy, we insert a long, thin tube directly into your pet's body to examine an internal tissue or organ up close.

Endoscopes are minimally invasive and can be inserted into openings of the body, such as the mouth or anus.
